National Games: Love for Archery brought Aman to Doon a day after marriage

Dehradun, 6 Feb: Delhi archer Aman Saini doubled his happiness by aiming for the gold medal in the compound team event of archery at the National Games. On 1 February, Aman reached here overnight after attending his wedding reception to participate in the ranking round to be held in Dehradun on 2 February.

Aman Saini, a resident of Nangli village in Delhi, is an income tax inspector. Due to his passion for participating in the national games, Aman reached Dehradun immediately after marriage to participate. Aman had promised his wife, Arjita Jain, that he would win a gold medal at the games. Aman said that along with winning the gold medal, he is happy that he was able to fulfil the promise made to his wife.

Aman has won two gold medals in the World Cup held in Korea and Turkey, silver medal at the World Championship in Jakarta, and one gold and two bronze medals in the World University Games held in China in 2023. Archery coach Surendra Singh encouraged him to take up archery and he has been at it since 2008.

Rajasthan DSP and Arjuna Awardi Rajat Chauhan won gold in the archery compound men’s event and bronze in the compound men’s team event for the state in the National Games. He said that he has been learning archery since 2006. He has won gold in the 2014 Asian Games and silver in the 2018 Asian Games. He missed a medal in the 2023 Asian Games by two points. He has won gold in the 2015 National Games held in Kerala and silver in the National Games held in Goa.
