Dehradun, 3 Jan: Shooting Coach Subhash Rana, who has been selected for the Dronacharya Award announced recently, stated today that hosting the 38th National Games is a tremendous gift for Uttarakhand. He observed that the event would lead to the development of substantial sports infrastructure in the state, ensuring that local sports talents no longer need to go elsewhere for training. Rana also stressed that this would also attract players from other states to Uttarakhand for training, thereby preventing sports migration. He congratulated Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for organising the National Games.
Commenting on being chosen for the Dronacharya Award, Rana expressed that recognition of one’s work naturally boosts enthusiasm and happiness. He views Uttarakhand hosting the 38th National Games as a significant opportunity for sports development. Rana asserted that wherever national games are held, a large sports infrastructure is established, providing an opportunity for the local sports talent to grow and thrive. The infrastructure expected to be developed over the next ten to twenty years will now be ready in a short span, greatly benefiting new and budding talent and would elevate Uttarakhand to new heights in sports.

Rana also mentioned that many players currently representing other states in various sports are now keen to play for Uttarakhand. As an associate with the shooting federation of Uttarakhand, he confirmed that several players have contacted him, and many are reaching out to other sports federations.
It may be recalled that Subhash Rana, a renowned shooter, has won four international gold and two silver medals. He also participated in the World Shooting Championship in Italy in 1994 and in Spain in 1998. As a coach, he trained the shooting team that competed in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020, where the team won five medals. Rana has been the coach of the Indian Para Shooting Team for an extended period of time.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has congratulated Subhash Rana on his selection for the Dronacharya Award, stating that Rana has increased the prestige of Uttarakhand. He emphasised that Uttarakhand is progressing rapidly in the field of sports and that the organisation of the National Games will mark a new chapter in sports development.
