Dehradun, 2 May: UPES, in collaboration with ‘The Indian Space Association’, hosted the National Space Convention, ‘Renaissance 3.0’, at the UPES campus in Bidholi, today. The convention enabled students to engage and network with leading minds in the space industry through a wide range of exciting activities.
The event witnessed the participation of over 600 students across India along with a distinguished line-up of guests, including Chief Guest Dr G Satheesh Reddy, who serves as the Scientific Adviser to the Raksha Mantri, Union Ministry of Defence, Padma Shri awardee Dr AS Kiran Kumar, former Secretary, Department of Space and 9th Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation, Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, NRSC, ISRO, Lt General AK Bhatt (Retd), Director General-Indian Space Association, Dr RP Singh, Director, IIRS, ISRO, Prof Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST, Dr LC Mangal, Director-DEAL, DRDO, Dr Ajay Kumar, Director-IRDE, DRDO, Nitika Khandelwal, Director-ITDA, Government of Uttarakhand among others.
The three-day event organised by Infinity Space Club of UPES included guest lectures by leading industry experts, panel discussions, sky observation, astrophotography, open rocket workshop and various interesting drone challenges.
The convention aimed to broaden the knowledge of space enthusiasts, particularly students from schools and colleges, and provide insights into the exciting field of space exploration. The action-packed convention also allowed participants to indulge in solar and night observations using advanced telescopes while enabling them to showcase their creativity and passion for space.
The National Space Convention 3.0 concluded on a high note with a historic rocket launch in collaboration with Thrust Tech. This launch was the first-ever rocket launch on the grounds of UPES and garnered appreciation from prominent industry leaders including Dr AS Kiran Kumar, former Secretary, Department of Space and 9th Chairman, ISRO in his valedictory speech.
