Navy wrestlers’ camp underway at Graphic Era’s Bhimtal Campus

Bhimtal (Nainital), 29 Jul: Top wrestlers belonging to the Indian Navy are being trained in High Altitude Wrestling in the campus of Graphic Era Hill University, here. These include Olympian wrestler Kuldeep Singh, Olympian Sandeep Tomar and Asian Game gold medalist Ravi Dixit.
The Indian Navy has organised this camp to specially prepare the wrestlers for wrestling in high altitude. Many international and national players belonging to the Indian Navy team have been included in this camp.
Their rigorous training starts early in the morning. For this, the Sai Sandhya Hall of Graphic Era has been specially equipped with a wrestling mat. Indoor and outdoor training is being provided in the campus.
The wrestlers are being prepared at this camp in wrestling and squash in areas with high oxygen pressure and in different climates. Kuldeep Singh, a wrestler of the Rio Olympics-2016 and Asian Games fame, is the head coach of this camp. Squash coach Satish Kumar and wrestling coach Sokender Tomar are also training the players.
The Navy wrestling and squash teams are involved in this six-weeks of training program. For the first time, about 50 players of these two teams are being given such training together.
Participant of the Rio Olympics and 2016 Asian Champion Wrestler Sandeep Tomar, Asian Games Squash Gold Medalist (2014) Ravi Dixit, 2017 Asian Games Silver Medalist Naveen, Asian Champion Sachin Ranthi 2018-Gold, Naveen 2017 Silver, Gaurav Sharma, Sanjeet and Vijay are participating. Along with them, famous wrestling players and champions of their classes Sumit, Sonu, Arun Kumar, 2018 silver medal winner Vijay in the world championship are also present. Many of these wrestlers have won medals in wrestling championships and World Army Championships several times.
The training commenced in the presence of Captain Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Board of Control for Sports, Indian Navy, and Commander Mridul Sah, Joint Secretary, Board of Control for Sports, Indian Navy.
