Uttarakhand Healthcare Innovation Summit

Dehradun, 28 Feb: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), participated as the Chief Guest at the ‘Uttarakhand Healthcare Innovation Summit’ held at a local hotel on Rajpur Road, here, today. The summit was organised under the joint aegis of the Uttarakhand Health Department and Velox Media.
In his address during the inaugural session, the Governor emphasised the importance of innovation and technological advancements in healthcare. He stated that this summit is a significant step toward strengthening healthcare services, expanding access to remote and hilly areas, and enhancing public-private partnerships in the sector.
Appreciating Uttarakhand’s current healthcare initiatives, the Governor noted that significant improvements have been made in innovation and quality. However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the state’s difficult geographical terrain and highlighted the potential of digital technologies such as telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in addressing these challenges. He stressed the need to expand telemedicine services in Uttarakhand to ensure that specialised medical consultations reach even the most remote areas. He also commended the efforts of AIIMS Rishikesh in this field.
The Governor praised the Ayushman Bharat scheme and other healthcare reforms initiated by the Government of India, acknowledging their positive impact on Uttarakhand. He also urged healthcare experts, policymakers, and private sector partners to collaborate in building a robust and inclusive healthcare system in the state.
During the summit, Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat provided insights into various health schemes being implemented in Uttarakhand and invited suggestions from stakeholders. Vice Chairman of Setu Commission, Rajshekhar Joshi, also shared his thoughts on improving healthcare services.
The event was attended by Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Anuradha Pal, AIIMS Rishikesh Director Dr Meenu Singh, Velox Media CEO Mohit Sharma, and other dignitaries.
