Orientation Programme continues at Law College Dehradun

Dehradun, 2 Aug: Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University, organised a grand Orientation 2019 Programme on the first day of the session. Chancellor of the University Jitendra Joshi was the Chief Guest, while Vice Chancellor Prof NK Joshi was the special guest on the occasion. The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of auspicious lamps.
As per tradition, College Principal Dr Rajesh Bahuguna delivered his first official address to the students. In his 90 minute speech, Dr. Bahuguna offered success tips to the law students. He said that Law College Dehradun was an integral part of the Uttaranchal University family. “The Law is our religion, the Constitution is our religious book, the Preamble is our prayer and study is our worship,” he declared. He further stated that about 550 students from 23 states had joined various courses offered at Law College Dehradun. A total of 100 students got admissions on the basis of CLAT score, while the remaining were selected on the basis of merit.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof NK Joshi observed that the contemporary trend required a multi-disciplinary approach and law students ought to do projects and research along with the students of other fields. He also briefed the students on the upcoming programmes of the university.
Those present on the occasion included Dr Poonam Rawat, VC Kaul, Kumar Ashutosh, Dr Anil Dixit, Kuljeet Singh, Praveen Lakhera, Dr Jitendra Singh, Dr Vijay Srivastava, Dr Sushim Shukla, Dr Jaishankar Ojha, V Bhuvaneswari, Razit Sharma, Dr LS Rawat, Anjum Rawat, Sukhwinder Singh, Abhiranjan Dixit, Vaibhav Uniyal, Dr Laxshmi Priya and a large number of students.
The session was inaugurated with the celebration of Harela Festival – a symbol of greenery and the culture of Uttarakhand. Chancellor Joshi welcomed the students and explained the importance of Harela. He exhorted the students to resort to planting trees. He inaugurated the festival with the plantation of a Rudraksh tree along with the students. The planting drive was conducted under the auspices of ‘Vasundhara – The Green Society.’
