Pantvarsity VC interacts with Gov on ‘Industry 4.0’

Dehradun, 19 Apr: Vice Chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Prof Manmohan Chauhan, and Head of Department, Computer Science, Dr SD Samantrai called on Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Wednesday.

Chauhan informed the Governor about setting up of the Industry 4.0 Experience Center at Pantnagar University with the help of Union Ministry of Heavy Industries. Industry 4.0 is the next phase of digitisation of the manufacturing sector. The digital transformation of manufacturing and similar industries and value-creating processes is known as Industry 4.0.
The Vice-Chancellor said that, with the establishment of the center, information about Industry 4.0 will be available through technology. Apart from this, this centre will help in skill development of students and their entrepreneurship. The centre will also be helpful in training those working in the industries. It will act as a centre of excellence for Uttarakhand, as well.

He added that the objective of this centre is to bring industries to global competition, to enhance technology based knowledge and to promote industries and academia partnership.
The Governor said that, in view of the expansion of the technical sector in the present times, the Industry 4.0 Experience Centre is a great need.  For this, the university should complete all the formalities and take action for its establishment. He added that, with the help of technology, work would become easy and simple and the quality would also increase. This would benefit the industry as well as the students and be beneficial in their skill development.
