Mussoorie, 19 Sep: Due to the delay in the work on reconstruction and beautification of the Mall Road, here, people are facing a lot of problems. SDM, Mussoorie, Nandan Kumar has given instructions to the officers and contractors to speed up the work, but these are not being adequately followed.
The work on reconstruction and beautification of the Mall Road is being done at a cost of about Rs 7 crore. The work started in January but has not been completed yet, even though it should have been completed by 31 May.
SDM Kumar has instructed the contractors several times to speed up the work. Along with repairing the main squares of Mussoorie, the work of installing cobble stones is being done, for which the main squares had been dug up. The cobble stones in some parts have not been put in place, due to which people are facing a lot of trouble in commuting. Many people have been injured at those dug out squares. There is anger among the local people against the administration and the contractor. Tourism business has also been badly affected due to the ongoing work and people are facing financial loss.
