Dehradun, 30 May: A ‘Period Free India Cleanliness and Cervical Cancer Awareness Workshop’ was organised by Alda Foundation, with the Primary Health Centre, Community Medicine, Government Doon Medical College, in Mehuwala for ASHAs and other women.
A large number of women participated in the workshop.
Dr Pooja Shaheen, President of Alda Foundation, said that her organisation has been running an awareness campaign on cervical cancer for a long time, and sanitary pads and awareness material are also being distributed to ASHAs, adolescents and other women, during which information is provided about the physical changes occurring in adolescence and taking special care of hygiene during menstruation.
In the workshop, Principal of Government Doon Medical College, Dr Ashutosh Saina praised the efforts of the organisation and said that this will help in keeping girls and women healthy. On behalf of Doon Medical College, Dr Richa Sinha raised awareness about World Menstrual Day and Dr Anupama encouraged the ASHAs.
Present on behalf of the organisation were President Dr Pooja, Vice President Vimala Bhasin and Anima Dave. On behalf of Government Doon College, Community Medicine Department Head Dr Anupama Arya, Dr Richa Sinha, Dr Madhulika, Medical Trainees and Medical Social Workers were present.
