Dehradun, 11 Apr: Congress today described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally held in Rishikesh as hugely disappointing for Uttarakhand. In a statement issued today, Congress spokesperson Garima Dasauni claimed that the Prime Minister did not utter a single word on various serious issues related to the state. This was his second rally in the state during the current elections but he failed to muster courage to speak on major issues confronting the state. At the same time senior Congress leader Yashpal Arya also criticised Modi on his silence over Agniveer Scheme and he claimed that people have already made up their mind to change the government at the centre.
Regarding the action of ED and CBI on opposition leaders, Yashpal Arya claimed that the government is using these investigating agencies as weapons, yet the morale of the leaders and workers of Congress and other Opposition parties will not weaken. Congress workers are connected to the land, and those who live in villages and settlements. Those workers are now coming out and working hard.
Arya said that even though his party lacks resources, the party workers are moving forward with only one goal in mind. In elections, the biggest support is needed from the public, Congress is seeing that in its favor, because Congress talks about justice for all and taking everyone along.
Garima Dasauni claimed that Modi did not speak anything such as sale of agriculture land in the state to outsiders will be restricted nor did he speak anything on rising unemployment in the state.
Dasauni claimed that the BJP Government in the state is selling agriculture land to outsiders but Modi remained silent on this issue. She further claimed that rape cases have increased in Uttarakhand with highest number of crimes committed in Uttarakhand against women and children among all Himalayan states but Modi did not say anything on this. Uttarakhand was shaken by the brutal murder of Ankita Bhandari. Serious allegations were made against many BJP leaders by the victim’s family but Modi has remained silent. She added that the Modi government launched the Namami Gange scheme in 2014 with the aim of improving the water quality in the river Ganga. Under this, an expenditure of Rs 20,000 crore was approved between 2014 and 2019 and 815 new sewage treatment plants (STPs) were built or proposed by 2021. The Jal Shakti Ministry claimed that the condition of the river had improved significantly but, as is often the case with this government, that claim turned out to be false. Modi has no comment to make on this. Even the STP plants are being handed over to Adani for operation. Another plant is operated by the Adani Group, and a contract for “scientific” study worth Rs 5 crore has been awarded to Patanjali Organic Research Institute.
