Qazi Nizamuddin files nomination from Manglaur assembly seat

ROORKEE, 19 Jun: Congress candidate from Manglaur assembly constituency, Qazi Nizamuddin today filed his nomination as official candidate of Congress party in Roorkee in presence of many senior party leaders and a huge crowd of supporters. It may be recalled that Uttarakhand will have by[1]poll on two assembly constituencies on 10 July. The Byelection has been necessitated in Manglaur in view of death of incumbent MLA Sarvat Karim Ansari of BSP in October last.

State Party President Karan Mahara, Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya, State Co in-charge Deepika Pandey Singh, newly elected MP Qazi Imran Masood (From Saharanpur), former Chief Minister and veteran party leader Harish Rawat, former State President Pritam Singh, former State President Ganesh Godiyal, Deputy Leader of Congress Legislative Party Bhuvan Kapdi, former National Secretary Prakash Joshi, MLA Bhagwanpur Mamta Rakesh, MLAs Adesh Chauhan, Furkan Ahmed, Ravi Bahadur, Anupama Rawat, Virendra Jati, former MP Isam Singh, Virendra Singh Rawat and many senior leaders of the party and a large number of workers were present in the nomination of Qazi Nizamuddin.

Addressing the election meeting held in the auditorium of Centrum Hotel in Roorkee after the nomination, State President Karan Mahara said that after the Lok Sabha elections, Manglaur and Badrinath assembly by-elections are a challenge for the workers of the Congress party. He observed that in the Lok Sabha elections, the party workers fought the elections with unity and though the Congress party may not have won as expected, the vote percentage of the Congress party has increased significantly compared to the previous elections. Mahara appealed for full support from senior Congress leaders, responsible officials and workers in the assembly by-elections and said that on the strength of the unity of the workers, the party is confident that its candidates will win with a huge number of votes in both the assembly constituencies.

Mahara said that the Congress party has always stood with the common man of the country and Congress has worked for the development of the common man, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always tried to mislead the people in the name of caste and religion. He said that the party will get full support of the public and the candidates of the Congress party will win with a huge majority.

The Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the people of the country and the state are fed up with the anti-people policies of the BJP and are not going to fall for its false promises and false rhetoric. He said that Qazi Nizamuddin has served as an MLA from Manglaur Assembly constituency and has done remarkable development works, the benefits of which he will definitely get in the by-election and he will win with a huge majority.

State Co in-charge Deepika Singh called upon all the workers of the Congress party to make the Congress candidates victorious with unity and said that the Vijay Yatra of the Congress party has started under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi and it will continue. Congress candidate Qazi Nizamuddin will win with a huge majority in the by-election of Manglaur Assembly. The public meeting was also addressed by newly elected MP Qazi Imran Masood, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, former state president Pritam Singh, former state president Ganesh Godiyal, Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuwan Kapri, former National Secretary Prakash Joshi, MLA Mamta Rakesh, Adesh Chauhan, Furkan Ahmed, Ravi Bahadur, Anupama Rawat, Virendra Jati, former MP Isam Singh, Lok Sabha candidate Virendra Singh Rawat and other leaders.

The Congress workers present in the public meeting reiterated their resolve to make history by making Qazi Nizamuddin victorious with a huge number of votes.

State Vice President Mathura Dutt Joshi informed that State President Karan Mahara and State Co in-charge Deepika Pandey Singh will leave for Gochar tomorrow morning and will participate in the nomination of party candidate Lakhpat Singh Butola of Badrinath Assembly constituency at the district headquarters Gopeshwar on 21 June in Gauchar.
