Nainital, 2 June: A cultural evening “Lokmati Ke Rang” was organized at Raj Bhavan Nainital on Sunday. In this cultural evening, artists of the Culture Department presented captivating programs and folk dances. A glimpse of the rich cultural folk art of Uttarakhand was seen in these programs. In the program, the artists presented folk dances like Jhora, Jhumailo, Chanchari, Tandi, Harul, etc, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the guests present.
After the cultural program, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that the culture of Uttarakhand has deep roots. The culture here is one of the richest cultures in India, whether it is traditional dress or folk dance or art form, they are rich in heritage, traditions and rituals. He praised the artists for the presentation of beautiful dances etc.
The Governor said that our heritage and identity have to be kept alive through folk songs, music, folk dance and other cultural activities. He congratulated all the teams and said that you are engaged in an important mission to keep your culture alive.
On this occasion, apart from First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Director Culture Bina Bhatt, members of the group that took training at NDA 50 years ago were also present with the Governor.
