BJP pays emotional tribute to Ramdas

Dehradun 28 Apr: BJP today paid heartfelt tribute to its senior leader and cabinet minister, the late Chandan Ramdas, in various condolence meetings held across the state including in the party’s state headquarters here.

In Dehradun, the condolence meeting was chaired by the state party President, Mahendra Bhatt. Rich tributes were paid to Ramdas who passed away in his home district of Bageshwar on 26 April of cardiac arrest, having suffered from cancer for several months, for which he was receiving treatment.

Bhatt, while addressing the party leaders and the workers, claimed said that the government would complete the unfinished works of Ramdas and the promises made by him to the public. Every party worker would have to take forward his thoughts and principles.

Bhatt said that Chandan Ramdas’s calm, gentle, magnanimous personality and his contribution to society, the region and especially Uttarakhand were exemplary. His commitment to party workers and organisational work was a matter of inspiration to everyone in political life. His sudden departure was an irreparable loss to the people of the state and to the BJP. He recalled that Chandan Ramdas was particularly concerned about the regional development of every part of the state and, hence, the state government under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would certainly complete the works started by him.

Conducting the programme, the Party’s State General Secretary Aditya Kothari said that, due to his humility, hard work and committed public welfare work, Ramdas’s popularity was such that he won his elections without much effort. Even in the last assembly elections, he was unwell and went out in the midst of the people only once during the entire campaign, and still won comfortably with a huge margin from his constituency. All the speakers at the tribute expressed their condolences to his family.

At the onset, all the party leaders present paid their tribute to Ramdas by offering flowers before his portrait and observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect to the late BJP leader.
