Dehradun, 9 Mar: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran, who has been fighting a 12-year-long legal battle against former DGP BS Sidhu from the Uttarakhand government to the High Court and the Supreme Court, has welcomed the filing of the chargesheet against Sidhu.
Jugran stated that it took 12 years to register an FIR against Sidhu, and now that the chargesheet has been filed, it marks a significant step toward justice. He also revealed that the CBI had recommended an investigation against the former DGP in a disproportionate assets case and had urged the then-government to file a case, but due to technical reasons, no action was taken at that time.
He further mentioned that on the petition of Sub-Inspector Nirvikar Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the Forest Department to file a case, following which the DFO of Mussoorie registered a case against BS Sidhu.
Ravindra Jugran also stated that despite the case being registered, no progress was made for a long time. As a result, he submitted a petition to Chief Minister Dhami requesting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Dhami accepted the request and ordered the formation of an SIT, which eventually led to the filing of the chargesheet.
