Dehradun, 12 Sep: Rotary Club Dehra Dun organised a function at North Point, Doon Club, to honour outstanding and distinguished teachers of Dehradun. Dr Sonu Kaushal Gupta, a prominent psychologist, was the keynote speaker and Chief Guest on this occasion. She was formally introduced to the audience by PP Patricia Hilton. She delivered a very impressive and informative lecture on the topic, “Emotional Wellness of Teachers”. She highlighted the importance of lively and cheerful classrooms. In her opinion teachers should be very pleasant, kind and amiable during lessons.
The club had invited twenty excellent teachers from different schools. These were Anurag Nagar, Aishwarya Jakhmola, Prof Anju Bali Pandey, Deepak, Dinesh Rawat, Jyoti Gupta, Kirti Nath, Leela, Prof Manish Manduli, Neetu Rani, Prakash Chandra, Poonam Semwal, Rajani Vijan, Dr Ram Vinay Singh, Rooma Malhotra, Simmi Mahajan, Sweeta Sharma, Vinay Kumar, and Vikas Chamoli. The award recipients were given a certificate and memento, each.
Several Rotarians who are teachers or associated with the profession of teaching were also honoured. They were Rtn Dr Tarun Bhatiya, Dr AK Srivastava, Rachana Srivastava, Asha Srivastava, PP Joginder Singh, Sulekha Singh, PP Dr SL Gupta and PP Anup Kaul. The seniormost Rotarian and ex-VC of Garhwal University, Prof IP Saxena was among the most distinguished and celebrated teachers honoured on the occasion.
Besides President Dr RK Bakshi and Secretary Megha Bansal, PDG David Hilton, PDG Rakesh Agarwal, PP Pawan Agarwal, PP Dr Arun Kumar, PP Joginder Singh, Rtn IP Saxena, PP Rakesh Malhotra, PP Naghma Farooq and Rtn Dr AK Srivastava, etc., were present on the occasion.
PP Dr S Farooq proposed the vote of thanks in his usual poetic style.
