Dehradun, 1 Dec: The Pushkar Singh Dhami Government today claimed it is getting support and appreciation from seers from across the country for passing a strict anti-conversion law in the state. Among those who have praised the new bill passed in the Uttarakhand Assembly include Swami Avadheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara, Vasudevanand, Swami Parmanand, Sadhvi Prachi, Balkanand Maharaj, Yogacharya Vipin Joshi, Swami Ravindra Puri and Raj Rajeshwaranand.
In a message to the people of the country, Swami Avadheshanand Giri said that the seers and society across the country, in general, and in Uttarakhand, in particular, are feeling elated by the courageous step taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to protect the present demographic structure in the state. A strict law criminalising forced conversion or conversion through allurement is the need of the hour and it needs to be enacted in other states as well.
Ravindra Puri described the enactment of the law against forced conversion as a historic achievement of the Dhami Government. He also appealed to other chief ministers across the country to enact a similar law in their respective states.
Sadhvi Prachi warned the forces engaged in forced conversion in the state or conversion through allurement of ten years punishment if they engaged in the now illegal activity of mass conversion. Balkanand Maharaj said that this new law is in the interest of the nation and the world.
