Reconstruction of dozen Primary Schools to be undertaken: Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

Dehradun, 10 Feb: Under the Primary Education Department, the reconstruction of more than a dozen dilapidated primary and upper primary schools will be undertaken at the earliest. An amount of Rs 568.85 lakh has been approved for the construction and repair of the buildings of these schools, and the executing agencies for the works have also been designated. Government orders in this regard will be issued shortly.

The State Minister for School Education, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, said that the state government is continuously making efforts at various levels to strengthen the education system. From physical resources and infrastructure development in schools to the deployment of teachers, institutions are being made well-equipped so that better education can be provided to children at the primary level. In this series, the government has approved Rs 568.85 lakh for the reconstruction of 16 government primary schools that have become dilapidated or damaged across various districts of the state—Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Tehri, Dehradun, and Chamoli.

In Rudraprayag district, Rs 32 lakh each have been sanctioned for the reconstruction of school buildings at Government Primary Schools Suradi, Chhatoda, Kamsal, Jasoli, and Salya, while Rs 40.30 lakh have been approved for the reconstruction of the Government Upper Primary School, Paurikhal. Similarly, in Pithoragarh district, Rs 39 lakh have been sanctioned for the reconstruction of the building at Government Primary School Laspasai; Rs 20.47 lakh for the construction of classrooms and the headmaster’s room at Gaila; and Rs 20.30 lakh for Malla Valthi. In Tehri district, Rs 34.86 lakh have been approved for Government Primary School Tikhon; Rs 37.36 lakh for Saundkoti Malli; Rs 39.94 lakh for Manjuridagar; and Rs 29.59 lakh for the reconstruction of Government Upper Primary School Kyari–Jamunda.

Likewise, in Chamoli district, Rs 77.11 lakh has been approved for the reconstruction of the building at Government Primary School Subhashnagar. In Dehradun district, Rs 33.05 lakh have been sanctioned for the reconstruction of Government Primary School Badripur, and Rs 36.87 lakh for the reconstruction of Primary School Bapunagar, Jakhan.

For the execution of construction works in these schools, the Rural Construction Department as well as the Drinking Water Corporation have been designated as the implementing agencies. Dr Rawat stated that necessary instructions have been issued to departmental officials to ensure the early completion of repair and reconstruction works in all these primary schools.
