Dehradun, 10 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today reviewed the functioning of the Uttarakhand Other Backward Classes (OBC) Commission at the Secretariat and directed the officials to expedite the construction of multi-purpose community buildings for OBC welfare in both the administrative divisions of the state, namely Garhwal and Kumaon. He emphasised that the projects must be taken up on priority to ensure timely benefits for the community.
On this occasion, the CM instructed that the proposed buildings should be equipped with banquet halls, guest houses, auditoriums, training rooms, meeting rooms and other essential facilities to support a wide range of social, educational and administrative activities. He also directed the officials to prepare and submit the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) at the earliest so that work can begin without delay.
Dhami further stressed on the need for widespread publicity of various public welfare schemes being run by the state government in OBC-dominated areas. He called for special campaigns to connect the eligible beneficiaries with these schemes and directed the officials to establish effective coordination between departments for smooth implementation. He further stressed that progress must be monitored through regular reviews to ensure accountability.
The CM also said that necessary improvements should be made to schemes based on feedback received from beneficiaries, thereby ensuring that benefits reach the common public more effectively. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the holistic development of all sections of society, highlighting education, skill development, self-employment and social security as priority areas for the uplift of the OBC community.
Among those present at the meeting were Chairman of the Uttarakhand OBC Commission Sanjay Negi, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki, Additional Secretary Navneet Pandey, Additional Secretary Sandeep Tiwari and other senior officials.
