Dehradun, 25 Oct: A large-scale recruitment drive will be undertaken to fill vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in aided non-government secondary schools across Uttarakhand. Keeping students’ interests in mind, the state government has lifted the long-standing ban on the recruitment process during the election year. School Management Committees will now be able to fill vacant posts in their respective institutions in accordance with student enrolment.

In a statement issued to the media, State Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the state government is committed to strengthening the education system and ensuring the availability of adequate human resources in schools. In this direction, the government has lifted the ban on recruitment to teaching and non-teaching posts in aided non-government secondary schools across the state. Consequently, the respective School Management Committees will now be able to initiate recruitment against vacant posts.

Dr. Rawat said that some School Management Committees had approached the High Court regarding the recruitment of teachers and other staff, while schools without such access had been managing their affairs with an inadequate number of teachers. In view of this situation, the decision has been taken to facilitate the appointment of regular teachers and staff in all such schools.

The Education Minister said that the recruitment process in non-government schools would be conducted in accordance with prescribed rules, norms and principles of transparency. He clarified that recruitment would proceed only against sanctioned vacant posts that have been revived or reinstated by the competent authority, thereby preventing administrative complications in the future.

Dr. Rawat further stated that the actual requirements of schools and their student enrolment would be given priority in teacher recruitment. Appointments would be made in proportion to student strength to ensure adequate teacher availability and improve the overall quality of education.

He directed departmental officials to ensure strict compliance with the prescribed rules and government orders throughout the recruitment process in aided non-government schools. He emphasised that the entire process must be completed in a transparent, impartial and rule-compliant manner.

“Keeping students’ interests in mind, the state government has lifted the ban on recruitment in aided non-government schools. The way is now clear for filling vacant posts in accordance with student enrolment. School Management Committees will be able to initiate the recruitment process while adhering to the prescribed rules and norms. This will help address the shortage of teachers and non-teaching staff in schools and further strengthen the academic system,” said Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat.
