Dehradun, 30 Jun: The 18th General Body meeting of the Indian Red Cross Committee State Branch was held under the chairmanship of President Indian Red Cross Committee, Uttarakhand, Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd).
Vice President Indian Red Cross Committee and Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat was also present on this meeting. On this occasion, the Governor released the mobile app “Red Cross Uttarakhand” of the Red Cross Committee. Through this mobile app prepared by BITS Pilani College, information about the activities of the Red Cross will reach the general public. The Governor also honored the volunteers working in all the districts of the state for their commendable work done during the Corona period.
In his address, the Governor said that Red Cross volunteers are contributing to the nation and society with a sense of service, dedication and charity. The Red Cross is the biggest blessing for the service of humanity. Red Cross volunteers play a big role in different types of disasters and accidents. He said that during the Char Dham Yatra and monsoon in Uttarakhand, the volunteers of the Red Cross should always be ready to help the people.
Lt-General Singh told the office bearers that maximum life members should be added to the Red Cross. He said that training should be organized at various levels and people should be motivated to join the Red Cross. He said that Junior Red Cross programs should also be made effective in schools and colleges. He also directed to increase the participation of women and daughters in the Red Cross. Governor Singh also appreciated the work of the committees working at the district level.
Dr Dhan Singh Rawat told the officials that there is a need to make special efforts on the membership drive in Red Cross. He suggested making all MPs, MLAs and district panchayat presidents patron members of the Red Cross in the state. The compliance report of the proceedings of the last general body meeting was presented in the meeting. During this, a presentation was given on the work done by the Indian Red Cross district-level committees and state branches in the year 2022-23. The actual income-expenditure of the Indian Red Cross Committee, State Branch Uttarakhand was presented in the meeting for the financial year 2022-23. Along with this, the estimated income expenditure for the year 2023-24 was also presented.
During this, the proposed programs of the Red Cross Committee were also discussed. General and health programs, training and disaster management, formation of Junior/Youth Red Cross and fundraising campaigns have been proposed by the committee in the future. State Managing Committee Chairman Kundan Singh Tolia proposed a vote of thanks in the meeting.
In this meeting, Secretary to Governor Ravinath Raman, Secretary Health Dr R Rajesh Kumar, Director General Health Dr Vineeta Shah, Vice Chairman of Red Cross State Managing Committee Dr Gaurav Joshi, In-charge General Secretary Harish Chandra Sharma, Vice Chairman Gaurav Joshi, Treasurer Mohan Khatri, besides members of the Managing Committee of Red Cross Committee, Uttarakhand, District Chiefs Medical officers and officials of Red Cross committees were present.
