Dehradun, 22 Mar: State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and National General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha, Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj stated today that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, significant and result-oriented work has been carried out over the past four years in the areas of respect, safety, and empowerment of women in Uttarakhand.

She said that this government is not just about announcements but about visible changes on the ground, the direct benefits of which are reaching lakhs of women and daughters across the state.

She highlighted that the Dhami government implemented the Uttarakhand Public Service (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Act, 2022, granting a legal right to 30% horizontal reservation for women in state government services. With this provision in force, strong employment opportunities have opened up for thousands of young women in new recruitments, ensuring a significant increase in women’s participation.

She further stated that, under the Chief Minister Mahalakshmi Kit Scheme, pregnant and lactating women from economically weaker sections are being provided kits containing essential items at the time of childbirth. Thousands of mothers have benefited from this initiative so far, strengthening early-stage healthcare, hygiene, and nutrition for newborns while also providing necessary support to mothers. Bhardwaj added that schemes like Nanda Gaura/Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana are being effectively implemented to encourage the birth and education of girls. Under these schemes, financial assistance is provided in two phases—at the birth of a girl child and upon passing higher classes, especially Class 12. These initiatives have benefited thousands of girls, promoting not only their birth but also strengthening their education and social security.

She also noted that, through Anganwadi centres, nutrition-related schemes for pregnant and lactating women are being continuously implemented, aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and effectively combat malnutrition. Alongside this, women across the state are becoming economically self-reliant through self-help groups by engaging in savings, microfinance, dairy, handicrafts, and small-scale industries—bringing a new direction to women’s empowerment, especially in rural and hilly areas.

She said that advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Nari Shakti”, the Dhami government has laid a strong and sustainable foundation for women’s empowerment in Uttarakhand. The decisions taken over the past four years will bring positive transformation in the lives of lakhs of mothers and daughters in the coming years.

In conclusion, she expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party government will continue to work with the same commitment towards the dignity, safety, and empowerment of women in Uttarakhand in the future.
