New Delhi, 12 June: Riti Jagoorie has been appointed as the next Managing Director of Hachette India. She will assume charge in January 2026, succeeding Thomas Abraham, the founding MD, who retires after an illustrious 18-year tenure.

Jagoorie is the daughter-in-law of acclaimed Hindi poet and Padma Shri awardee Leeladhar Jagudi.

Jagoorie, currently serving as Vice President (Product and Marketing), has been with Hachette India since its early days in 2008 and is credited with building strong partnerships across the publishing ecosystem. She has led major campaigns for bestselling titles such as My Life in Full by Indra Nooyi, The Silent Patient, and The Devotion of Suspect X.

Expressing gratitude on her new responsibility, Jagoorie remarked that it has been a privilege to work with and learn from someone as knowledgeable and inspiring as Thomas. She added that she is grateful to him for hiring her and trusting her to take this company forward. She also thanked Hachette’s global leadership for their confidence in her, adding that she is committed to honouring Abraham’s legacy and furthering the company’s success.

Thomas Abraham, who helped establish Hachette India as a leading trade publisher since 2007, described his journey as immensely fulfilling and said it was time to step back and read for pleasure beyond balance sheets.
