Dehradun, 17 Apr: The Army Welfare Placement Organisation, under the aegis of HQ UK Sub Area, today, organised a ‘Rozgar Mela’ at the Doon Sainik Institute, Garhi Cantt, here, today.
The Army Welfare Placement Organisation has been established to assist ex-servicemen, widows and dependants of serving and retired personnel in seeking avenues for suitable jobs.
The drive was inaugurated by GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area, Maj Gen Sanjeev Khatri. It was attended by Maj Gen ML Aswal, President of Uttarakhand ESM league, Col US Thakur, President of Dehradun ESM League, and Col Nanda Ballabh, Director, AWPO, Uttarakhand & UP, apart from other distinguished guests.
The Mela was attended by 26 Companies and Industry Chambers to include Security Agencies, Banks, Insurance Sector, Pharmaceutical, Conservancy Services, Railways and many more.
There were more than 1000 veterans and dependants who attended the drive and benefitted from this unique event, with major corporates under one roof. The Indian Army, through AWPO, is committed to contributing meaningfully towards skill development and creating avenues for employment for its veterans, thereby gainfully contributing to nation building with the strong determination and discipline that the veterans carry from their military service.
