Dehradun, 11 Sep: SARA SAE Private Limited, a global leader in oilfield equipment manufacturing, has been conferred the Star Performer Award for 2023–24 in the category of Bright Bars and Other Miscellaneous Products – Medium Enterprise. The award was presented at the 56th EEPC India National Export Excellence Awards, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, as part of the 70th Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of EEPC India.

The Chief Guest was President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who highlighted the vital role of the engineering sector in advancing economic growth, technological progress, and global competitiveness. The award was presented by Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Commerce, Industry, Electronics & Information Technology, along with Pankaj Chaddha, Chairman, EEPC India, and Aakash Shah, Vice Chairman, EEPC India.

Expressing his gratitude, Sumit Dhawan, Managing Director, SARA SAE Private Limited, said: “This award is a proud moment for all of us. For over four decades, our mission has been to deliver world-class engineering solutions to the global oil and gas industry while maintaining the highest standards of quality. This recognition reflects the hard work of our employees and the trust of our global customers.”

Sumit Dhawan also acknowledged the pivotal role of his wife, Shruti Dhawan, in the company’s journey, noting that her support was instrumental in navigating challenges and achieving this milestone. He further shared that their elder daughter, Suhani Dhawan, has already joined the company as part of the third generation of leadership, while their younger daughter, Gaurisa Dhawan, after completing her education abroad, is keen to join the company. “All of this has been possible only with the blessings of Sai Baba,” he added.
Looking ahead, SARA SAE is expanding its presence in key Middle Eastern markets including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria, and Oman, having recently secured several major orders, including 3,000 HP tenders in Kuwait. Following the imposition of tariffs by the US, the company strategically pivoted from the American market to the Middle East. The company also deploys a dedicated global team of over 25 field service engineers, including a strong base from Uttarakhand, supporting clients worldwide.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, SARA SAE has transitioned all its manufacturing plants to operate entirely on solar energy over the past three years. Established in 1980, the company is also the world’s oldest active holder of the American Petroleum Institute (API) 16D License (License No. 16D-0003), with more than 2,000 BOP control units supplied globally.
SARA SAE’s story is deeply rooted in family legacy. The company was founded by VK Dhawan, and his vision is being carried forward under the leadership of his son, Sumit Dhawan. An alumnus of The Doon School, and the University of Houston, Sumit Dhawan has steered the organisation with a clear focus on innovation, sustainability, and global excellence. Upholding its culture of treating employees as family, the company recently honoured its outstanding performers and renovated its canteen to provide free meals as prasadam.
