DEHRADUN, 29 Jul: On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, also known as International Tiger Day, the Sardar Bhagwan Singh University in association with WWF – India, Dehradun Programme Office, organised an interactive session, here, today. Prof AK Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University, lit the ceremonial lamp and welcomed the officials of WWF-India. Devavrat Pawar, Tanu Jain, Siddhant Umariya and Soumya Bakshi of the WWF- India project team highlighted in the presentation on the topic “Conservation of Tigers in India” that the International Tiger Day is celebrated every year on 29 July to raise awareness for tiger conservation. The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. Present on the occasion were Prof Maneesh Arora, Dean, Students Welfare, Prof Vikas Anand, Faculty, staff and students of the University, Supriyo Saha, and aspirants for a career in the armed forces from the Youth Foundation. The programme was anchored by Mitali Babaulkar.
