Haridwar, 21 Apr: Public Works, Tourism, Irrigation, Minor Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Rural Construction, Culture, Watershed Management and Indo-Nepal Uttarakhand River Projects Minister Satpal Maharaj today inaugurated several roads in Block Narsan at a total cost of Rs 1.82 crore and internal roads and laid foundation of several projects here today.
He also held a Janata Milan programme on the occasion and heard the problems of the people. Over 175 complaints were heard by him on the occasion and of them 82 were resolved on the spot. Speaking on the occasion, Maharaj said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh, the government is moving towards making Uttarakhand a state of excellence with a “choiceless resolution”. The government has set a new example in terms of development. Mentioning great men, he said that the government always remembers the contribution made by eminent people. For this reason, the government has named Manglaur-Deoband Road after Chaudhary Charan Singh, Manglaur-Jhabreda-Saharanpur motor road after Raja Vijay Singh, Asafnagar-Iqbalpur motor road after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Along with renaming the Gurukul Narsan Motorway after Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Azadnagar-Paniyal road has been named after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
Referring to the Char Dham Yatra, Maharaj said that last year a record number of devotees reached the Char Dham Yatra and this year, under the online registration system for the Char Dham Yatra, through mobile app, toll-free number as well as through WhatsApp and phone in the control room, over 15.5 lakh registrations have been done already. He also informed that under the booking for the guest houses of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam which was started from the month of February, bookings of over Rs 10 crore have been made so far.
Maharaj said that 7,849 km of motorways in the state have been patched and a total of 850 km of roads have been reconstructed and 13 bridges have been constructed under various schemes of the Public Works Department. Referring to the app being developed by the Public Works Department, he said that a mobile app is being developed to make the roads pothole free for smooth and safe travel, through which the information of potholes along with pictures will be shared by the people with the PWD office. Taking quick action on the basis of the information received from the app, the department will also send the details of the work along with pictures to the concerned complainant. Apart from this, work has started on 22 works out of the total 24 approved works for organising the G-20 Summit.
Referring to Panchayats, the Cabinet Minister said that Deendayal Mini Secretariats are being developed at each Nyaya Panchayat level. A provision of Rs 10,000 has been made for the village heads under the disaster fund. Apart from this, the honorarium of village heads has been increased from Rs.1500 to Rs.3500 per month. The proposal to increase the honorarium of other panchayat representatives is also under consideration of the government, on which a decision will be taken soon. He said that main roads of villages with more than 250 population will be constructed through the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Maharaj said that Amrit Sarovars would be made in all the 70 assembly constituencies and developed as a tourist spot and water sports centre. To make the children of labourers literate, mobile schools will be started, in which teachers will go on the spot and teach the children. Against the target of setting up 95 compactors, 70 compactors have been installed for solid waste/plastic waste management in 95 development blocks of the state. He said that Haridwar is now seeing continuous development and it was recently awarded the Best Ganga Town award by the President and Haridwar stood first in the month of February under Jal Jeevan Mission.
