Dehradun, 13 Sep: Sardar Bhagwan Singh University recently hosted an expert lecture and workshop on “Animals and Environmental Protection Law”, featuring renowned speaker Aanchal Raturi from the Pollination Project, USA. The Pollination Project is a US-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting social change, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.
The event, attended by over 70 students, faculty members, and environment enthusiasts, aimed to raise awareness about the vital connection between animal welfare and environmental protection.
Prof (Dr) J Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SBS University, inaugurated the event with a lamp lighting ceremony. In his opening remarks, he emphasised the crucial role of environmental law in safeguarding wildlife, preserving ecosystems, and ensuring the protection of species.
Aanchal Raturi, an expert in the field, shared valuable insights and experiences from her work with the Pollination Project. She covered topics such as animal welfare, conservation, and environmental protection, highlighting the importance of legal frameworks in safeguarding the natural world. Additionally, Anil Panwar provided valuable insights on Himalayan Day, emphasising the role of Himalayan protection in conserving animal life.
Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions, case studies, and group activities, making the event a truly enriching experience. SBS University’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and education was evident in the successful holding of this event. The university’s consistently makes efforts to bring together experts and enthusiasts to discuss critical issues like animal and environmental law.
The event concluded with an interactive session, at which participants expressed their appreciation for Aanchal Raturi’s expertise and the university’s initiative in hosting such a thought-provoking discussion. The event was successfully organised and coordinated by Anil Panwar, Hemlata Bhatt, Priya Rawat, Pragati Negi, and Dr Anamita Sen.
