Dehradun, 24 Feb: Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (SBSU) hosted its Alumni Meet 2025 on 21 February, bringing together former students, faculty, and guests for an evening of nostalgia, networking and celebration. The event provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and honour the institution’s legacy through engaging discussions and captivating cultural performances.
The evening commenced with a heartfelt Alumni Badge Pinning Ceremony, symbolising the enduring bond between alumni and their alma mater. Prof (Dr) Maneesh Arora, Dean, Student Welfare; Prof (Dr) Reena Rani, Head, Department of Physiotherapy; Dr Nidhi S Belwal, In-charge, Department of Microbiology; and Mohd Ajmal warmly welcomed the alumni, pinning badges as a mark of pride and gratitude.
In his welcome address, Prof (Dr) Maneesh Arora highlighted SBSU’s role in shaping future leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals through a holistic blend of academic excellence, industry exposure, and skill development.
Vice-Chancellor Dr J Kumar, in his inaugural address, emphasised: “The success of an educational institution is measured not merely by its infrastructure or academic excellence, but by the achievements and impact of its alumni. You are the true ambassadors of SBSU, and your accomplishments in various domains—be it healthcare, research, entrepreneurship, administration, or social service—fill us with immense pride.” He further noted that a university’s greatest asset is its alumni, whose achievements and contributions drive its growth and evolution, helping it adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities. He also recounted the vital role played by Dr Gaurav Deep Singh, President, SBSU, in establishing the SBSU Old Students’ Association, which has been continuously contributing to the well-being of the university through both moral and material support.
SP Singh, Chairman of Gaurav Bharati Shiksha Sansthan (GBSS), honoured Dr AS Brar, Col IS. Bhinder, and Mr Sibia, distinguished members of the Board of Governors (GBSS), for their invaluable contributions to SBSU’s formative years. As a token of appreciation, they were presented mementos commemorating the university’s three-decade legacy.
A key highlight of the evening was the panel discussion on “Navigating Career Transitions – Lessons from Alumni Experience”. Esteemed alumni and industry experts, including Dr Jaswinder Kaur, Dr Jeevan Jyoti, Dr Prriskhit R Java, Dr Rajneesh Negi, Dr Vijay Negi, Dr Palak Jain, Dr Vijay Rana, Dr Madhav Shyam Tripathi, and Shakshi Singh, shared valuable insights on industry trends, emphasising the importance of technical expertise, soft skills, and adaptability. The interactive session, expertly moderated by Prof (Dr) Atul Kaushik and Dr Nidhi S Belwal, sparked thought-provoking discussions and enthusiastic participation from, both, alumni and students.
The evening culminated in a series of vibrant cultural performances by students and alumni. Classical and contemporary dance performances, along with a mesmerising rendition by the university choir, filled the atmosphere with nostalgia and energy.
With over 300 alumni from diverse professional backgrounds in attendance, the SBSU Alumni Meet 2025 reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a strong and engaged alumni network—one that continues to contribute to the growth of both the institution and its graduates.
