Dehradun, 8 Sep: Congress leader in-charge of party affairs in Uttarakhand, Kumari Selja today held a series of meetings with office-bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), frontal organisations, departments and cells at the party headquarters here.
During her three-day visit to Uttarakhand, Selja, who is also an AICC general secretary and MP, along with PCC president Ganesh Godiyal, reviewed the organisational work being undertaken by various frontal organisations, departments and cells and discussed the party’s forthcoming programmes and election strategy. The meetings, held behind closed doors, focused on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level, improving coordination among office-bearers and preparing the party for the 2027 Assembly polls.
Selja called upon the office-bearers and workers to work in close coordination and remain active among the people. She stressed that all departments and cells of the party should not remain confined to paper but should be visible on the ground and establish direct contact with the public. She directed the heads of various organisations, departments and cells to constitute their respective executive committees at the earliest and undertake extensive tours across the State to strengthen the organisation.
She claimed that the people are facing difficulties due to what she described as the anti-people policies of the BJP government and that Congress workers need to raise their voice strongly on issues concerning the public. She specifically referred to alleged injustice against Dalits, women’s safety and dignity, growing unemployment and problems faced by the youth. She also said that farmers, labourers, women and economically weaker sections were facing difficulties because of government policies.
Calling upon Congress workers to treat people’s problems as their own, Selja said the party workers should fight for their resolution and remain continuously connected with the public. She maintained that the Congress would raise issues concerning the people with full strength and urged workers to take the party’s policies and programmes to the masses.
Selja also addressed a meeting of PCC vice-presidents, general secretaries and secretaries after meeting the representatives of the frontal organisations, departments and cells. In this meeting, she called for a strong and fact-based campaign against what the party termed the anti-people policies and wrong decisions of the BJP government.
She said the PCC would soon appoint in-charges for various districts, cities and Assembly constituencies. These in-charges, she said, should visit their allotted areas, establish coordination with senior party leaders and workers and work towards keeping the organisation united while stepping up preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Godiyal said elections can’t be won through the efforts of leaders alone and that the hard work of united and dedicated workers is equally important. He called upon every office-bearer to work with discipline, commitment and sincerity and become the voice of the people. He urged party workers to reach villages, booths and Assembly constituencies, interact directly with the people and highlight the policies and ideology of the Congress.
Selja also congratulated the party leaders, workers and the public for the response to the Congress’s recent programme of gheraoing the CM’s residence over the alleged ‘purification’ controversy. She said the response to the programme was commendable and asserted that the Congress would continue to raise issues concerning the people.
