Dehradun, 7 Apr: Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences organised a seminar, here, on Bone Health on the occasion of World Health Day. The programme was conducted in joint collaboration with Department of Physiotherapy and Department of Medical Lab Technology of the Institute. The expert at the workshop was Orthopaedic Surgeon of Max Hospital, Dehradun, Dr Himanshu Kochar. He said that the mineral and calcium in the body became reduce in bones with age. This could be made up by adding milk, yogurt, other milk products and dark green leafy vegetables to the daily diet. He also informed that the teeth become weak, while and bones made sounds on moving by the age of 40, which indicated the reducing calcium. He advised that healthy food and half-an-hour of running at moderate speed at least 4 times a week could raise the calcium in the bones. He also suggested not using door mats at homes as these could cause accidents to elderly people in the family. It was difficult to repair bones in old age.
The information provided by Dr Kochar was appreciated by attending faculty members and students from various departments.
The programme was organised by Dr AK Malik, Dr Deptee Warikoo, Aditya Swaroop, Dr Sunil Bhatt, Dr Richa Agarwal and Rashmi Chauhan.
