Seminar held on needs of differently-abled

DEHRADUN, 1 Sep: A one day seminar was held on 30 August in the Annexe of the Circuit House under the aegis of Sharp Viklang Samiti, Tharali, Chamoli, and RTI Lok Sewa, Dehradun, to discuss the problems being faced by the disabled, handicapped, under- privileged persons and how boldly they were facing those challenges in day to day life. Brig KG Behl (Retd), President, Sanyukta Nagrik Sangathan, and AICC & Vice Chairman, Cheshire Home, was the Chief Guest and Hukum Singh Uniyal, Chief Administrator, Rajkiya Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Sunil Kumar Aggarwal, Head, All Uttarakhand BEd and Professional Institutes, were the distinguished guests. It was presided over by Brij Mohan Negi, President, Sharp Viklang Samiti, Uttarakhand, and was conducted by Manoj Dhyani, social activist. Brijmohan Negi welcomed all and explained the various problems being faced by such affected people who need to be appreciated for daring actions done to save the lives of others. Such people had come from various parts of the State and would present their deeds and how they were being treated. He emphasised that social organisations should help them out in their efforts. Those who spoke on the occasion included footballer Virendra Singh Rawat, Sushil Kumar Tyagi, General Secretary, SNS, Amitabh Rai, Sandip Sharma, Subhash Kumar, Manish Kumar, Sushil Kaintura, Sohan Singh Rawat, Laxmi Prasad Thapliyal, Rakesh Chandra Sati, Ram Kumar from Vikasnagar, Khema Nand Joshi, Madan Bhandari, Ravindra Pradhan, Praveen Kumar Gusaini, Poonam Dhyani, Jagdamba Prasad, Vijay Singh Rawat and others. Some of the incidents were very touching, especially those that involved saving the lives of others. Their courage was very much appreciated by all especially that of Manish Sharma, who lost both his hands and carries out all his chores including writing with a pen and using the smart mobile phone. Besides he is teaching to earn his living. Sunil Kumar Aggarwal said that education and hard work never went waste and quoted his own example, where what he learnt in the earlier stage had become useful in achieving his present status. Brig KG Behl (Retd) said that some of the descriptions of the incidents were really touching and needed special help from the Government as well as the people. Certificates of excellence were presented to Brij Mohan Negi, Manoj Kumar, Amit Oberai, Kapil Kumar and Manish Sharma by the Chief Guest and others. Manoj Dhyani proposed the vote of thanks and framed a slogan, “Divyang, Dalit, Deshaj ka Maan Samman, Tabhi Bharat Rashtra – Vishva Banega Mahan”.
