Mussoorie, 23 Jul: A seminar on the Right to Information Act 2005 will be held here on 10 August.
State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt will participate in the seminar as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker. This will be the first occasion when a seminar will be held on this subject in Mussoorie in the last two decades of enactment of the Right to Information Act. Through the seminar, common citizens will be able to understand the relevance of the Right to Information Act. The seminar will be organised by the State Union of Working Journalists.
Union President Pradeep Bhandari said today that after attaining independence on 15 August 1947, the citizens of the country have received many fundamental rights. Along with this, many other rights have also been passed by the Parliament of the country as per the need of the time. One of the most important rights among them is the Right to Information Act 2005. Today, this right has given birth to a new revolution of transparency towards the workings of the government in the country. But due to lack of public awareness, even today many people are not able to take advantage of this important law. In view of this, the ‘State Union of Working Journalists’ Mussoorie unit will hold a discussion on the Right to Information on 10 August in the city. Pradeep Bhandari, Deepak Saxena, Upendra Lekhwar, Amit Gupta, Deepak Rawat, Sumit Kansal and other members were present on the occasion.
