Dehradun, 3 May: Senior Journalist and Editor in Chief of ‘Nainital Samachar’ has been nominated for 2nd Bhairav Dutt Dhulia Award for Journalists. Shah has been nominated unanimously for the award by the selection committee.
This information was released in a press communique by Capt Himanshu Dhulia, Secretary of Karmabhoomi Foundation Uttarakhand.
It may be recalled that the award has been constituted in memory of Pandit Bhairav Dutt Dhulia and this is the second year that the award is being given for excellence in journalism. The first award announced last year was given to senior journalist Jay Singh Rawat.
It may be worthwhile to note that Rajiv Lochan Shah is a veteran journalist who has been in the field of journalism for last 47 years and he has been serving the interest of the readers in Uttarakhand through his publication ‘Nainital Samachar’.
Nainital Samachar has played a leading role in not only in making the readers aware of the contemporary issues but also in many social agitations and movements since 1977. It has supported and written extensively regarding Chipko Movement, anti liquor movement and statehood agitation. The publication has also been a training ground for many budding journalists from the state.
The award will be handed over to Shah by Prof Shekhar Pathak on 19 May at a programme organised in Lansdowne.
