Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat reaches site of tragedy in Chamoli

DEHRADUN/CHAMOLI, 19 Jul: As soon as information about the tragic electrocution incident that took place in Chamoli district was received, the minister in charge of the district, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, immediately left for the site.

On arrival, he gave necessary instructions to the officials of the district administration and health department for the treatment of those injured in the accident. Along with this, he directed the district administration to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the incident following orders from the Chief Minister.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and patience to their families in this hour of grief. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured in the accident. Dr Rawat said that as soon as he got information about the Chamoli incident, he canceled all his upcoming programmes and immediately rushed to the site.

He reported that the seriously injured people have been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh, where they will be given better treatment. Apart from this, the other injured are being given treatment at District Hospital, Gopeshwar. The relief and rescue work is going on at an advanced level and he is present at the district headquarters along with the officers of the district administration.

Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat was currently on a four-day Garhwal-Kumaon tour. As soon as he got the news of the accident in Chamoli during a programme at the Dewal block of Chamoli district, he canceled all his further events and rushed to supervise relief and rescue work with the local administration at Chamoli district headquarters.
