DEHRADUN, 26 Jul: To honour heroes of the Kargil War heroes who laid down their lives for the nation, Seven Oaks School organised a Special Assembly of students and teachers, today, for the junior and the senior schools. The attack on India’s sovereign territory in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control, between May and July 1999, was responded with utmost valour and necessary retaliation by the brave soldiers. The Indian Armed Forces through ‘Operation Vijay’ recaptured the positions on the Indian Side of the LOC after evicting the intruders in a fierce battle. The triumphant ‘Operation Vijay’ launched by the Armed Forces brought the war to an official end on 26 July, 1999, thus marking it as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’. To mark this special day, the school stood in solidarity with the Armed Forces, paying homage to those brave hearts who lost their lives in action for safe guarding their country. Principal Mr Kumar addressed the gathering with his inspirational speech. The school Head Boy and the Head Girl expressed their gratitude to the K argil War heroes through their respective addresses. The atmosphere echoed with patriotic songs like ‘Hum Hain Hindustani’ and ‘Aarambh hai Prachand’ presented by the School choir. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.
