DEHRADUN, 12 Jul: The ‘Shree Mangalam Society for Education & Women Empowerment’ is a Dehradun based NGO working in the field of Education & Women Empowerment for four years. Apart from this, it has also undertaken many environmental activities like planting trees, sessions on environment, celebrating wild life weeks and other activities related to climate and the environment. To protect the environment, ‘Shree Mangalam’ took an initiative for the ‘Climate Emergency’ protest called ‘The Fridays for Future’ movement, which was started by 14 year old Greta Thunberg, a teenager from Sweden, who in August 2018 decided to miss school every Friday and instead protest outside the Swedish Parliament until it took more serious action to tackle climate change. Now, she has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Shree Mangalam started with the Rajkiya Prathamik Vidhayalaya at Rajpur Road for the first week, followed by street children, nomadic children, Hindi medium schools, and Raja Rammohan Roy Academy. The tenth Protest for the Future was done with the children of Hilton’s School at Majra.
