Dehradun, 18 Oct: Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was remembered on his 203rd birth anniversary (17 October) by AMU Alumni Association, Dehradun.
Chief Guest Dr S Farooq inaugurated the 203rd Sir Syed Day celebration virtually along with Chaudhary Ajay Kumar of the IPS, who presided over the programme. Chaudhary Ajay Kumar greeted the students and the faculty for being part of this great institution of India.
Dr Farooq said in his address that the life of Sir Syed was devoted to Education. Sir Syed believed the country would develop only through education.
President of the Association, AK Garg welcomed the guests and said that all should follow the path of Sir Syed. He recalled that Sir Syed worked for the poor and downtrodden people of the country.
Vice President Riyazul Hasan Siddiqui reminded that Sir Syed was the first leader to take the bold step in 1876 to start a Muhammedan Anglo-Oriental College to attract Indians to obtain knowledge and adopt English language for the study of Science, which was very essential.
Present on the occasion were Irshad Ahmed Khan, Secretary of the association, Mohd Umar, HN Khan, Rajnish, Afroz Alam, Irshad Ahmed, SN Ahmed, Nafees Ahmed, Shagufta Nayyer, Mohd Mukhar, etc.
Coordinator of the Alumni Association Dr Sajid Jamal proposed the vote of thanks.
