Chief Secretary, DGP visit Haldwani to take stock

Haldwani, 9 Feb: After the Haldwani violence, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and DGP Abhinav Kumar reached the spot to take stock of the situation at Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami orders.

Chief Secretary Raturi and DGP Kumar also instructed the District Magistrate, Nainital, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, respectively, to maintain constant vigil on the situation. Raturi and Kumar also inspected the Banbhoolpura police station, which had been burned down by the rioters last evening. Raturi directed the district administration and police officers to maintain law and order by placing the safety and peace of the general public as the top priority. Along with Abhinav Kumar, she also visited the Sushila Tiwari Hospital and met the injured and enquired about their health.  She urged the doctors to provide necessary treatment to the injured and also maintain their morale.

Radha Raturi and Abhinav Kumar also held a high-level meeting with DIG Kumaon, District Magistrate, Nainital, Senior Superintendent of Police and other senior officials to review the situation.

While talking to the media, the Chief Secretary claimed that the situation is under control. She, however, added that strict action will be taken against the culprits. Apart from the affected area of ​​Banbhoolpura, teams of the district administration and police have been deployed to ensure that such incidents do not happen in other sensitive areas of Haldwani. She praised the general public for maintaining peace in the area.  She said the Chief Minister is constantly obtaining information about the situation

Abhinav Kumar said that all culprits would be arrested soon and they are being currently identified with the help of CCTV footage. He asserted that no one would be spared. DIG Yogendra Rawat, District Magistrate Vandana Singh, SSP PN Meena and other high officials were present on this occasion.

Police spokesperson IG Nilesh Anand Bharne today said that the deaths of three people have been confirmed in the violence. He added that the situation is being continuously monitored. Many people have been arrested. Instructions have also been given to maintain strict vigil in all sensitive areas of the entire state.
