CHAKRATA/KALSI, 20 Sep: Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan was the Chief Guest on the second day of the three-day sports competition organised by Chauhan Club Utail in Brahmanao on the auspicious occasion of Jagra, the holy festival of Botha Mahasu Maharaj and Chalda Mahasu Maharaj in Chakrata, Dehradun.
On reaching Kalsi on Wednesday afternoon, the Assembly Speaker was given a grand welcome with garlands by the workers under the leadership of District Panchayat President Madhu Chauhan.
After this, the Speaker reached Brahmanao, where the local people in their traditional attire gave her a grand welcome with garlands.
During this, the members of Chauhan Club Utail welcomed the Assembly Speaker Khanduri and felicitated her.
The Speaker was introduced to the contestants participating in the game and she encouraged them.
During this, Khanduri also enjoyed Tandi, the traditional dance of Jaunsar, along with the people of the area. She announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh to the competition organiser Chauhan Club Utail to make such events grander and to promote sports.
Bhushan said that the importance of sports is immense, and it has an impact on physical, mental and social development. Sports not only help in maintaining physical health, but they also improve mental health. Playing sports is an important step towards health and fitness.
She added that, through sports, one learns the basic need of teamwork, courage, organisation, and enthusiasm.
District Panchayat President Madhu Chauhan, Kamlesh Bhatt, Dinesh Tomar, Surendra Singh Chauhan, Pratap Singh Tomar, Chandan Singh, Paras Goyal, Gajendra Jawahar, Puran Singh, Hakam Singh, Yashpal Singh, Nisha, etc., were present on the occasion.
