Kotdwar, 3 Sep: Assembly Speaker and local MLA, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, today inaugurated a newly constructed ‘Journalism and Mass Communication Laboratory’ at Dr Pitambar Dutt Barthwal Government College, here. The laboratory, funded by MLA funds, was built at a cost of Rs 4.96 lakhs.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Speaker highlighted the importance of journalism and mass communication, stating that this laboratory would enable students to gain practical knowledge and understand the principles and characteristics of modern journalism. She emphasised that the facility would not only provide practical experience but also familiarise students with the latest technologies and methods in the field of journalism.
Ritu Khanduri Bhushan praised the college and expressed hope that the laboratory will contribute to enhancing the skills and capabilities of students in the journalism sector. She assured that the state government remains committed to continuous improvements in higher education and expanding educational facilities through various initiatives.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the College Principal, DS Negi; Kotdwar Municipal President Pankaj Bhatia; Sukhoor Mandal President Hari Singh Pundir; Hemant Bisht; Prof Preeti Rani; Prof Basantika Kashyap; Sanjay Dwivedi, faculty; students; and local dignitaries. The event was conducted by Dr Sanjay Thaleri.
