DGP Abhinav Kumar calls on Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan

Dehradun, 3 Sep: Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar made a courtesy call on Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan in New Delhi today. During the meeting, important issues related to law and order, security scenario, women’s safety, and police reforms were discussed in detail.
Some important topics discussed included the challenges related to the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and steps being taken to reform the state police. In addition, the two officers also discussed the state’s preparedness to deal with increasing cybercrimes and the need for necessary resources. Steps being taken to further strengthen the safety of women in the state and the cooperation required from the centre for this were highlighted. An outline of special campaigns and schemes to ensure priority of women’s safety was also drawn up. There was an in-depth discussion on the steps being taken to reform the state police and the cooperation expected from the central government. Emphasis was laid on further empowering the Uttarakhand Police Force through state-of-the-art technology and training.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan assured DGP Abhinav Kumar all possible cooperation from the central government to further strengthen the law and order in the state, especially women’s safety.
On this occasion, Kumar also invited the Union Home Secretary to visit Uttarakhand and offer his guidance to the state officials.
