Dehradun, 25 Aug: After the conclusion of the second session of the Assembly held in Bhairarisain (Gairsain), Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan met the Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), at the Raj Bhawan to provide him detailed information about the three-day session. During the meeting, discussions also covered current affairs related to the state.
During the conversation, the Governor recalled that Khanduri had been inspired by her mother to establish a library, which she subsequently did in the Assembly. He noted that, similar to this inspiration, the Prime Minister has initiated the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign for environmental protection. As a tribute, the Governor gifted two books authored by him, “Atma Ke Swar” Volume 1 and 2, which contain a collection of his 108 speeches, for the Assembly library.
It is worth noting that, last year, during the inauguration of the new library at the Assembly building in Dehradun, the Governor was the Chief Guest, and the Speaker mentioned in her welcome speech that the inspiration for this library came from her mother.
The Governor congratulated the Speaker on the successful conduct of the Monsoon Session despite challenging geographic conditions and extended his heartfelt wishes.
