Speaker Ritu Khanduri represents India at CPA meet in Gibraltar

Dehradun, 18 Apr: Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan participated in the two-day mid-year Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee meeting held at the Sunborn Hotel in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.

The Speaker is abroad these days, representing the India region in the two-day meeting of the mid-year CPA executive committee in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.
Khanduri participated in the meeting on the first day of the meeting wearing the Brahmakamal Pahadi Cap, the identity of Uttarakhand.
The CPA Executive Committee consists of 38 members from Africa; Asia; Australia; the British Isles and the Mediterranean; Canada;  the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic; India; Pacific; representing the South-East Asia regions.
In the first day’s meeting, there was a meeting of the CPA’s Coordinate Committee and Sub-Audit Committee, in which discussions were held on planning for the coming year, legal status of CPA, future activities like financial reporting.
Representing India Region, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan stated that, with the aim of strengthening the identity of Uttarakhand on the world stage, she participated in the meeting wearing a Brahmakamal mountain cap, and this cap was also the centre of attraction for all.
Khanduri said that she will keep her point of view on all the topics to be discussed at the meeting.
She added that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association provides a unique forum for inter-parliamentary dialogue between its membership of parliaments and legislatures. CPA is working to strengthen parliamentary democracy.

Lok Sabha MP Anurag Sharma participated in the meeting through video call.
The meeting was attended by Lok Sabha member Uday Pratap Singh, Lok Sabha Secretary Dr Yumnam Arun Kumar, Liaison Officer, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Saifuddin MA, and Assam Assembly Speaker Vishwajit Daimary.
