Dehradun, 2 Jan: In line with the Uttar Pradesh government’s efforts, other states are also preparing for the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The central government is also focussing on the Maha Kumbh Mela to be held in Prayagraj. As part of these preparations, special arrangements are being made for the devotees travelling from Uttarakhand to Prayagraj with the operation of special flights, train and bus services to participate in the largest congregation of the Hindus called Maha Kumbh.

Starting from 12 January, air services will commence from Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun to Prayagraj. The flight, operating two days a week, will depart from Dehradun at 4:25 p.m. and reach Prayagraj in approximately 2 hours. The return flight will leave Prayagraj at around 6:50 p.m., arriving in Dehradun at 8:45 p.m., with each flight accommodating about 72 devotees per trip.

In addition to flights, train services connecting Dehradun-Haridwar to Prayagraj will also operate. Trains have been planned from Dehradun on 18, 21, and 24 January and on 9, 16 and 23 February. The train will depart Dehradun at 8:10 a.m. and return from Prayagraj at 6:30 a.m.

Additionally, both Uttarakhand Transport Corporation and UP Roadways will provide bus services to Prayagraj. Direct bus services from Dehradun, Haridwar, Haldwani and Kashipur to Prayagraj are expected to begin around 10 January, offering another travel option for devotees planning to participate in the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, celebrated every 12 years, will take place in Prayagraj from 13 January to 26 February 2025 at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.
