Dehradun, 15 Oct: Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi held a departmental review meeting with officials of the Rural Development Department at his camp office on Tuesday. During the meeting, he provided necessary guidelines for the implementation of centrally and state-sponsored schemes.

Minister Joshi emphasized the need to enhance the quality, packaging, and marketing of products. He instructed officials to establish Rural Business Incubator Centers to create self-employment opportunities for youth and self-help groups. He also directed them to expedite the remaining housing construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) in line with targets.

Efforts should be made to enhance the livelihoods of women’s groups, he added. The minister instructed officials to complete the welfare schemes of the central and state governments in a timely manner. Under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rural Skill Scheme, candidates should be connected with employment after training.

The meeting reported that 17 Sars Centers and 24 Growth Centers are being operated under the Livelihood Mission for the marketing of products produced by women self-help groups. Outlets have been established at airports and Dehradun/Haridwar/Haldwani railway stations for marketing the groups’ products. To provide broader market access for products made by women’s groups, the Chief Minister’s Empowered Women Festival Scheme is being implemented. Out of 467 Cluster-Level Federations (CLFs) of women self-help groups, 159 have been established.

More than 2,500 children have been trained under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rural Skill Scheme.

Present at the meeting were Secretary of Rural Development Radhika Jha, Additional Secretary Dheeraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Manuj Goyal, Nitika Khandelwal, amongst others.
