Dehradun, 29 Aug: On the occasion of National Sports Day, today, a three-day sports competition commenced at Maya Devi University, here.
On the first day, in the Shotput (Girls’ Category), Shobha clinched the title. In the Boys’ Category, Priyansh emerged as the winner, while Nitin had to settle for second place, and Shashank secured the third position. In the Discus Throw, Sumit grabbed the first position, claiming victory.
In the Tug of War, the ten-member team led by Priyansh, after a long and intense struggle, finally defeated Lakshya’s team. In Volleyball, interesting matches were played today between the rival teams, with the finals scheduled for tomorrow.
On the occasion of Sports Day, Vice Chancellor, Maya Devi University, Prof (Dr) Ashish Semwal, extended congratulations to the winners, all the players, and sports enthusiasts. The University’s Vice President, Dr Tripti Juyal Semwal, emphasised that there is a need to identify sports talents at every level across the state and encourage them.
Chief Sports Officer Dr Vikas, along with his team members Dr Ankita Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Dr Naveen Kumar, successfully organised the events.
