Dehradun, 8 Jun: Special Principal Secretary, Information, Abhinav Kumar held a meeting, today, with officers of the Information Department at the Information Directorate here. During the meeting, Kumar directed the officials to give wider publicity to the public welfare schemes of the government so that the people become aware of them and obtain optimum benefit of the schemes. He asked the Information Department to ensure wider publicity and awareness campaigns are run through various means.
Kumar added that the government’s schemes ought to be accessible to the people living in remote areas and border districts. In order to ensure that the people standing last in the queue also get full benefits of the schemes of the government, the information department have a role to play in adequate dissemination of the information among the people. Then only the good intentions of the government could be fulfilled.
He asked the information department to use print, electronic and social media to spread awareness in this respect.
The Special Principal Secretary directed that information be obtained from various departments about the schemes of the government and important development works undertaken, so that the general public could be better informed. He reminded that, with the passage of time, modern technology is being used more in the functioning of governments. Special training also needed to be arranged for district information officers and information officers to ensure better public relations and on use of modern technology for dissemination of information. Kumar asked the officers to maintain coordination with all departments to achieve this goal.
Kumar declared that, in view of the Chardham Yatra, various arrangements made by the government and the facilities being provided to the devotees should also be given wide publicity. This could be done through various media, particularly with regard to the facilities being provided to pilgrims on the Chardham Yatra routes by various departments.
Director General, Information, Ranveer Singh Chauhan claimed that the schemes of the government are being published, as well as the development work done, through various mediums. Short films are also being made on major schemes for the general public.
Joint Director, Information, Ashish Tripathi, KS Chauhan, Deputy Director Manoj Shrivastava and Ravi Bijarania were present at the meeting.
