Dehradun, 30 Jun: The Pushkar Singh Dhami led BJP Government has claimed that the benefits of the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 have begun to reach the state’s youth directly. As part of this, the Uttarakhand Film Development Council has released scholarship payments to three students who completed their studies at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Under the provisions of the policy, permanent residents of Uttarakhand who secure admission to institutions such as the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, or other reputed centres would be eligible for scholarships on merit after completing their courses and obtaining certificates. The scheme provides reimbursement of expenditure incurred on the course, with Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes receiving 75 per cent support and general category students receiving 50 per cent.

Chief Executive Officer of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Banshidhar Tiwari, stated that in line with this policy, Praveen Semwal of Ukhimath, Rudraprayag, has been paid Rs 65,682 for a one‑year postgraduate certificate course. Similarly, Kavita of Harni (Mundoli), Chamoli, has received Rs 1,27,619 for a two‑year postgraduate diploma course, while Devesh Bhatt of Tallital, Nainital, has been paid Rs 1,38,990 for a three‑year postgraduate diploma course. All three have completed their studies at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Commenting on this, Chief Minsiter Pushkar Singh Dhami today observed that Uttarakhand’s youth are rich in creative talent and the government is making efforts to provide them with better opportunities to hone their abilities and secure recognition at the national level. He emphasised that the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 is an important step in this direction, and by extending scholarships to those pursuing education in the field of cinema, the government is working to give their dreams a new flight.
