CM interacts with students at Vidyarthi Manthan event

Dehradun, 10 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ programme organised at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan at his official residence. On this occasion, he launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ portal and also inaugurated an essay competition on the theme ‘Mere Sapnon Ka Uttarakhand: Ek Viksit Rajya Hetu Mera Drishtikon’.
Addressing students on this occasion, Dhami said that 140 children performing best in the competition would be felicitated and that the state government would bear the cost of their coaching and other fees for prestigious examinations such as NEET, JEE, CLAT and SAT. More than 3 lakh students of classes 11 and 12 from 2,828 government and private schools across the state participated virtually in the programme. During the interaction, students suggested several significant measures and they included promotion of sports, introduction of four sports periods a week, expansion of opportunities in schools, strengthening higher education in Uttarakhand, encouragement of tourism activities and prioritisation of environmental conservation alongside development.
The CM noted these suggestions and directed the officials to prepare an action plan accordingly, asserting that the students’ inputs would be incorporated into government policies.
Dhami emphasised that the students are both the present and the future of the nation. He urged them to move forward towards realising their dreams, stressing that understanding the subjects is more important than merely securing good marks. He said the discipline and the values ensure that success in life and the students ought to change their approach to the studies and they should treat the education not as a burden but as a path to shaping their future. He added that the students should aspire to become leaders in their lives, explaining that true leadership lies in excelling in one’s field, showing dedication to work and society, and uplifting others. He called upon youth to use their talent and energy positively for the development of society and the state.
The CM also advised the students to pursue their goals with determination, learning from the challenges and by never allowing alternatives to weaken their resolve. He said that when the commitments are made without options, success comes faster. He felt that that today’s students would lead Uttarakhand and the country in the future.
At the same time, Dhami also cautioned students to use Artificial Intelligence only when necessary, noting that while AI is useful and informative, excessive reliance on AI may have adverse effects. He urged them to first apply their own intellect and reasoning, learn from the teachers’ guidance and experience, and then take AI’s assistance if required. Technology, he said, should remain a supportive tool, not a substitute for human thinking and learning.
Stressing on the importance of sports alongside academics, Dhami said the successful organisation of the national games in Uttarakhand has created new awareness among youth and society. The students are now seeing their future in sports and working hard to excel in different disciplines. He mentioned that the state government has implemented the Mukhyamantri Udayman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana to support budding players.
The CM added that he is well acquainted with the thoughts, aspirations and interests of the younger generation, mentioning that his own household includes Gen Alpha and Gen Z, which helps him understand youth perspectives closely. He assured the students that the path of dialogue would always remain open, encouraging them to freely share their problems, suggestions and ideas. He said the government is committed to listening to youth and considering their inputs, adding that the continuous dialogue is the key to better understanding and building a brighter future.
On the occasion, Media Advisory Committee Chairman Prof Govind Singh, Education Secretary Jyoti Yadav, Additional Secretary Namami Bansal, Director General, Education, Akanksha Konde, Govind Ram Jaiswal, Rahul Agrawal, Riya Agrawal and others were among those present.
