DEHRADUN, 5 Dec: Sudha Raghuraman presented Carnatic Vocals at Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidhyalaya, here, today.
Sudha Raghuraman is a recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Award for Carnatic Music from the Sangeet Natak Akademi. She represents the younger generation of vocalists.
She was accompanied by MV Chandrashekhar on the mridangam and G Raghuraman on the flute.
Earlier, she also performed in several schools of Rishikesh, and is scheduled to perform at MKP College and Central Academy for State Forest Services on 6 December.
Sudha took training in Carnatic music from her grandfather, OV Subramanyam. She is also a trained violin player. She was awarded a scholarship by the Sahitya Kala Parishad for advanced training in music.
Students were present in large numbers to attend the concert. Speaking about the effect of music, she stated, “Music has a therapeutic impact on the organs. Certain ragas can eradicate ailments. Music alleviates pain as well.”
